A chain whip and cog wrench are heavy tools
to carry on a bike tour, but we had to have
some way to remove the cassette in case we
broke a few spokes on the rear wheel or
broke some teeth on the cassette. So we
purchased a Stein Mini-Cassette removal tool.
One morning Rich tried to remove the
cassette from my bike. I heard a lot of
grumbling, and finally a loud crunch from my
bike and a "Oh no." from Rich. Fortunately
the tool -not my bike- broke.
While it is a beautiful design, it just didn't work
for us.

Thailand someone swiped our Visa number and began
using it to purchase train tickets in London. I noticed
the fraudulent charges in our online statement two days
before Christmas, called Merrill collect from Thailand,
disputed the charges and cancelled the card. They
sent us new cards by UPS International Overnight
Express and we had them in our hands the day after
Christmas. REMARKABLE. Merrill Lynch has saved
us more than once on our world wanderings and we
highly recommend them.

Rich's Cateye Bike
Altimeter/Computer
has been giving us
trouble from the
start. The wiring
harness got
crimped in three
different places
and had to be
rewired twice.
Then the rubber
coating over the
waterproof buttons
came apart. This
computer seems to
be one of those
products that is
made to fail after a
few months.
