We were not excited about the prospect of cycling out
of Bangkok metro area so we cycled to the train
station and took a train to Phetchaburi. When we
purchased our ticket we had to make sure that the train
we'd be taking had a cargo car attached as this is
where the bike will be loaded.
After purchasing our train ticket, we went to the cargo
office and purchased a ticket for the bikes. Reports
vary as to the price for this bike ticket but it is never
more than a few dollars.
Arrived in Phetburi after a 3 hour train ride. Easy ride
from the train station to the guest house. Turn left out
of the station then right at the first intersection,
Damneonkasem Rd. Look down the cross streets on
your left and when you see a small bridge with elephant
sculptures, turn left. The hotel is at the base of the
bridge.
Slept - Rabieng Guesthouse
Location - Right side of bridge on the rivers edge on
Chisa-In Road
Cost - 200 b ($5.40)
Amenities - Shared bath and toilet. Fan room in a
rickety building. Nice restaurant overlooking the river.
Nice owners very gracious. Kept our bikes in our
room.
Have you cycled out of Bangkok? Please submit an
update for this page and we will post it here. Thanks.
