Road/Ride - Highway 4 South. Sealed road. Excellent
shoulder. Well signed and well serviced with gas
stations, food and toilets spread out evenly.
Traffic moderate, yet respectful. Long ride on
secondary road toward the beach and Cha-Am town
after we got off highway 4.
Hills - No hills, relatively flat the entire way.
Cha- Am is a very touristy beach town with mostly Thai
vacationers. Weekend are crowded and the prices
increase. No open market that we could find.
Beach is adequate, not beautiful. Cha- Am has many
restaurants, tourist shops, internet and all other
amenities.
Plenty of hotel options for every taste and price level.
High end hotels include the Dusit Resort and Polo Club
and the Regent both on Phetkasam Rd. Also nice is
the Cha-Am Villa on Ruamchit Road.
Slept - Cha-Am Villa Beach Hotel.
Location - On street across from the water on
Ruamchitit Rd. Enter town go west on main street then
take a left as you hit the road that runs with the water.
Cost - 400 b ($10.81)
Amenities - Motel-style unit. Ground floor with units on
each side. En suite bath with hot water, a/c, TV with
English channels. Not a new room but everything
worked. Restaurant with ocean view included
generous buffet breakfast. Hotel has several buildings
with much newer, nicer units for around 900 b. ($24.32)
Wheeled our bikes into our room for the night.
