Road/Ride -Highway 4 South and secondary road
3374. All roads are sealed. Traffic is moderate.
Hills - The ride is long and undulated with some
gradual hills.
Weather - Hot and humid. It rained for the most of the
day at least until we arrived in Bang Saphan. Took
shelter during the worst part of the down pour under a
bus stop hut on the side of the highway with two locals
on scooters. We have not used our rain gear because
it too hot and it's easier to just wear the least amount of
clothes and let the sun and wind dry us after the rain
stops.
Bang Saphan town is off highway 4 on a secondary
road east for about 8 kilometers. Once in Bang
Saphan we got lost trying to find the beach. Using our
bilingual map the locals pointed us in the right
direction. We took a another smaller secondary road
for about 6 kilometers to get to the beach.
Food options at the beach are limited to a few local
vendors with small stands and the restaurant at the
bungalows. Bang Saphan is a small town with many
food options, restaurants, an open market, 7/11 and all
other amenities.
Slept - Suan Luang Bungalows - Thai/French
ownership. Found Bungalows on the internet with very
high ratings. Very well deserved.
Greeted personally by the Thai (female) owner in fluent
English. Gave us a warm, lovely scented towel to wipe
our faces, a delicious cup of tea. Very nice facility with
good restaurant.
Cost- 600 b ($16.21)
Location- Off the secondary road #3374 that heads
west toward Bang Saphan Noi. Bang Saphan Noi is
the next beach town south of Bang Saphan. There is a
sign Suan Luang Bungalows on road #3374. The sign
is after the big hill to your left. Take the left. Suan
Luang is about 100 meters on your left after the turn. All
well signed. All roads sealed.
Amenities - Very nice, new bungalows. Very well
maintained. Lovely setting in lush garden. A/C, private
bath, fridge, TV with German and French channels.
Thai robes, towels.
