Ride/Road - Took the secondary road 3374 along the
coast from Bang Saphan to Bang Saphan Noi. After
about 16 kilometers we turned west toward Bang
Saphon Noi and took another secondary road that got
us back on the main highway 4.  Once back on Hwy 4
we continued south toward Chumphon.
About 12k north of Chumphon there were several signs
posted on the hwy in English alerting us to a shortcut to
get to Chumphon.  We took the short cut and it
decreased our cycling miles by at least 6 kilometers.
The short-cut is a sealed, road that passes small
villages. Some parts of the road are new.

About 15 kilometers north of Chumphon on the
highway there a full service rest area with a
supermarket, restaurants, toilets etc.  Very nice.

Hills - About 2 miles from town there is a very steep
uphill.

Accommodations on this ride - On main highway 4
about 16 miles north of Chumphon.  Can't remember
name but it looked nice and well signed on the
highway.

Chumphon is a popular destination because it is
where the highway splits between the southern route
41 toward Surat Thani and highway 4 that heads west
down the coast to Phuket along the Andaman Sea.
The short cut road off of highway 4 ends in the center
of Chumphon town on Saladang Rd.

Chumphon is a big, busy city with moderate traffic.  It
has all the amenities a travelers would need.  Tourist
agencies, public markets, restaurants, stores, and
internet available.

Slept - Sri Chumphon Hotel
Cost 450 b  ($12.16)
Location - Saladang  Rd. in the center of town.
Amenities - The hotel is older, but the rooms are big
with all amenities.  AC/TV/fridge, en suite bath.
Stored our bikes in a spare room next to reception
area in lobby.  Very safe.

Other sleeping option in town - Plenty of sleeping
options in town at various levels.
