Day 3
Paksan to Pakkading
Kilometers 40  Miles  24
Road/Ride - Hwy 13 sealed the entire way. The shoulder is
narrow to non-existent.   At times the shoulder is rubble and
it's easier to pedal on the road.  Very low to non-existent
traffic.

Hills - Undulating parts along this ride, not a strenuous hilly
ride.  One very minor climb, but not long, nor steep.

Weather - Cool, crisp morning.  Stopped at the beginning
of our ride to put on an extra layer of clothing.  Brush
burning makes it hard to breath.  Rich is wearing a face
mask to help.

Headwind stayed with us the whole way.  Mostly moderate,
but at times was strong and took me for a loop.

Pakkading town is a small town and we decided to cut this
riding day short and stay here as most people continue on
to  Ban Vieng Kham.  Not much in town we did not find a
central market.  No vegetables, not much fruit.  Just a few
small shops with rather slim pickings and road side
restaurants that cater to car traffic.

Slept - Phetpathoum Guesthouse
Location - South end of town on the right, if entering from
the north.  This guesthouse complex looks new and they are
currently building more bungalows.  The couple that owns
the guesthouse lives in the house next door.
Cost -  50,000 kip ($5.00)
Amenities - Nice, motel style guesthouse.   All rooms are
on the ground floor and attached.  Large, concrete room
with tile floor, en suite bath, hot water, western toilet with
bucket flushing.  Fan.  No need for a/c or fan.
Bikes fit nicely in the room for safe keeping at night.

Other accommodations in town  -  We did not see any other
accommodations in town.
