Day 6 Tam Key to Quang Ngai, Vietnam Kilometers 60 Miles 37
|
Ride/Road - Hwy 1 south. Sealed with a wide
sealed shoulder.
Very busy, hectic, chaotic traffic at times. There
are some brief moments of tranquility where no
trucks or buses go by.
Towns are frequent with plenty of opportunities to
eat, rest and use facilities at gas stations along the
ride.
We have started to wear 1 earplug in our left ear to
help with the incessant honking. It makes us feel a
bit isolated, but it helps to eliminate the ringing and
the edge off the honking.
Weather - Hot, humid and sunny. Cool mornings
and evenings.
No wind.
Hills - None
Quang Ngai is a busy, commercial and very built
up town that looks pretty much like one huge
shopping district on Hwy 1. ATM's, large central
market, shops, restaurants and plenty of hotel
options to choose from at all levels. It is an easy
town to pedal around and most things a traveler
would need are within walking distance and on
Hwy 1.
Slept - Bihn Minh Hotel
Location - On Hwy 1 at 275 Quang Trung Rd.
Cost - 240,000 dong ($15.00)
Amenities - Brand new hotel all top of the line
furniture, fixtures and extras. Large room with
huge window and two double beds on the first
floor. The room was very nicely decorated with a
desk, small table and chairs, a/c, fan, TV with
multiple English channels, mini-bar, en suite bath
and western toilet.
Bikes were locked inside the hotel in the lobby, just
under the steps. Very secure.
Other accommodations - Newer hotels just north of
town on the river.
Plenty of hotel options in town on Hwy 1.
