Ride/Road - Hwy 1.  Sealed road with adequate
shoulder.  Traffic gets very busy and congested
with buses, scooters and mini-vans at the entrance
and exit of any populated area.

We really have to keep our wits about us at all
times and pay attention to the flow of traffic as
scooter and bicycle enter traffic from side streets
and driveways without looking in any direction.

Hills - One very minor hill just north of Sa Huynh
and a two very minor climbs south of Sa Huynh
town.

The rest of the ride is flat passing through lovely
scenery, green rice paddies, with the mountains
behind.

Lunch - Nice picnic spot to at the beach south end
of Sa Huynh town (about 66 kilometers (39.6
miles) south of Quang Ngai) in front of the Hotel Sa
Huynh.  The beach is spectacular and the spot has
plenty of shade and concrete slabs to sit on.
The hotel does have a restaurant that was open,
but we did not eat there.

Other accommodations -
Forty kilometers south of Quang Ngai in a small
town with a hotel that looked perfectly fine for one
night.

Tam Kuan town - We heard from a reliable source
that there are at least 2 guesthouses/hotels in Tam
Kuan.  Our source knows this because they spent
the night in Tam Kuan.  We have to admit that
when we pedaled by this small town we did not
see accommodations on Hwy 1, so we continued
on to Bong Son.

Bong Son is not a nice looking town.  It's a narrow
strip of non-stop shops built up mainly along Hwy
1.  A few streets extend for about 1 block or so
beyond the highway.  The town is packed with
places to find food, drinks and anything else
imaginable.  There is a sprawling labyrinth of a
market with fresh produce and the usual products
on one of the side streets just half a block off Hwy
1.  Easy to find.

Bon Song is not much of a tourist town but it is a
convenient stop to break up the long ride from
Quang Ngai to Quy Nhon.   A good place to stock
up for another long riding day.

Slept - Anh Nguyen Hotel
Cost - 150,000 dong ($9.37)
Located - 271/5 Quang Trung Rd.  On an alley,
right side of Hwy 1, if heading south, next to a gas
station.  (About 20 meters off of Hwy 1)
Amenities - Huge room with two double beds,
sliding glass doors open up to a long balcony
facing a quiet alley away from the noise of Hwy 1.
Room has a large refrigerator, TV with no English
channels, a/c, fan, en suite bathtub/shower and
western toilet.
Bikes were locked inside the hotel in a back room.

Other accommodations is town -  Several hotel
options in town.  Most are on Hwy 1 and a few are
on the cross roads off of Hwy 1on the right side if
traveling south.
