Brake pads are one of the few
parts on a bike that actually
wear out over time. It is
important to change the pads
before they wear down to their
metal base as they can easily
do serious damage to the rim.

built in meter to tell when they
need to be changed. The
wear grooves show how much
pad remains. When the pad
has nearly reached the end of
the groove, it is time to replace
them.
